Ambisonic microphones for field recording

Reynolds ambisonic microphones record the whole soundfield around them in one take: every direction, including height. Back at the desk you can turn that recording into stereo, binaural, surround or Dolby Atmos, and aim it wherever you like after the event.

Built for outdoors

The bodies are 3D printed in PA11 nylon, which resists condensation, and nickel coated for shielding. Capsules sit on Sorbothane mounts to keep handling and stand noise out. The mics have been used from cold, wet nights to humid jungles and arid deserts.

• A-Type 4: four capsules, first-order ambisonics, about 10 dBA self-noise and 75 g.
• A-Type 8: eight capsules, hybrid second-order ambisonics for sharper localisation. Supplied with a ball windshield, fur windjammer, Radius RAD-2 shockmount and flight case.
• A-Type 8 Cinela Pianissimo kit: the A-Type 8 fitted in a Cinela Pianissimo for exposed, windy locations.
