Introducing the Reynolds A-Type 4

A first order A-Format ambisonic microphone array, built to deal with harsh environments while always delivering clear natural sound.

The A-Type 4 microphone uses four matched capsules with 78dB signal to noise ratio, silver-plated Teflon-insulated wiring, high sensitivity balanced electronics and a 3D-printed nickel-plated SLS nylon body and grille.

The mic only weighs 85g and the nylon construction means it can be dropped from a height without damage and it doesn’t suffer from the condensation problems we see in traditional metal body mics.

The A-Type 4 kit includes a 3m super high quality cable made in the UK by LEMO Connectors using Mogami Cable ,Neutrik XLRs, a custom Rycote BBG windshield, Windjammer fur and INV7HG shockmount, all packaged in a lightweight flightcase.

The final piece of the kit, missing from these pictures, is the state of the art A-Format to B-Format Encoder VST plugin, custom built for Reynolds Microphones by the amazing team at atmoky in Austria.
